FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 6, 2014

Cluj-Napoca, Romania – Independent game studio Tractor, Set, GO! announces the immediate availability on the App Store of award-winning game Gelluloid Pro - an action strategy game with hand-crafted missions and beautiful graphics. Gelluloid Pro is an addictive combination between the harvest, strategy and defense genres.

Fun, engaging, fast paced and brain melting. Welcome to project Gelluloid, a research effort to find the best medicine against viruses. Players are challenged to prove their tactical skills in battles fought between microscopic gels. Their aim is to occupy all the cells floating inside a bio-catalyst. The gel learns new tricks along the way, which help in developing new strategies and solving puzzle missions.

The game constantly evolves. The catalyst is lurking with threatening viruses, which require better defenses as the player progresses. Levels also increase in difficulty and size. And new types of cells become available all the time. This development leaves our players always craving for more.

Beware, each mission has been meticulously hand-crafted. We'll challenge even the most brilliant minds with unique puzzles and tactics scenarios. You'll find the fast paced action very addictive. Strategy alone won't be enough to complete missions - you'll need to develop some quick moves as well.

Gelluloid was first released on Android, to a very warm reception from the press and fans, quickly attracting many positive reviews:

“Gelluloid is an excellent strategy game based on micro war bacteriological wars (how cool sounds that?)” - IGN

“A well-crafted, original and challenging game. Recommended.” - Apps Zoom

“The graphics is very good and the gameplay is captivating” - Gadget Buzz

“It’s a compelling experience.” - Tested.com

Gelluloid Pro has been in development for over an year and sporting many features and improvements over the Android version. Key differences are:

  • 5 completely new abilities, such as Time Warp and Inhibition.

  • You earn 2X more research points, reducing farming. Also content unlocks without any cost.

  • 2 new sets of skirmish maps.

  • No ads.

  • Better, higher resolution graphics, refreshed UI.

  • Improved gameplay with dozens, maybe hundreds of tweaks.

As you may already know, we're in the final stages of completing Gelluloid. This final part focuses on eliminating any remaining small issues, fine-tuning the balance of the game, setting up the right defaults and finishing up the in-game help.

For all of this we needed to test the game “out in the wild”. We, at Tractor Set Go!, are not normal people, you see. Not only that we've been playing the game for over a year now, but we also know very well how it works – we built it! We are, what you might call, Gelluloid experts. It would be a terrible choice to do final benchmarks based on our performance.

So assembled a courageous team of beta testers. Fed with only pretzels and beverage, they eagerly started playing Gelluloid for their very first time. Well, okay one of them had seen the game before, but the game was quite different back them.

We posted some pictures from the “Gelluloid Game Night” event on Facebook. In case you're wondering, the people holding the Kinder Surprise eggs were the first three to finish the first campaign.

Finally, we wish to thank everybody for their valuable input and encouraging comments!

What's the next thing?

As a pre-launch teaser, we'll keep updating the Laboratory page with new cells, upgrades and other features.

The next feature's text is scrambled, can you guess what it is?

Introducing the Main Cell

12 April 2013 none

The main cell is the first unit to be introduced in the Laboratory.

You can think of the Laboratory on this site as a gelly hall of fame. In anticipation of our game's launch, we'll introduce there all the units, upgrades and other features you'll find in Gelluloid. After a long development time, we're very excited to share what we've got!

Main cell icon

The main cell is the most basic unit in Gelluloid. A cell can hold gel within its membrane and can be occupied either by you or your enemy. Neutral cells are grey and, although they don't belong to any player, they have a natural defense which varies from cell to cell and mission to mission.

Cells live in a substance called the "Catalyst". Between them, links can be present, allowing you to transfer gel from one cell to another. As you'll get to see when playing Gelluloid, knowing how to time your gel transfers and knowing where to attack will prove to be essential in succesfully completing a mission.

Cells also have several attributes around which we've designed some specialized cells. Follow us on facebook or twitter to find out what's next!

Background story

10 April 2013 none

We have waited for centuries, living at the mercy of nature. Fearing our shadows. Fighting to take down everything that threatens our integrity.

But humanity’s most ferocious enemies were tiny, invisible, hidden beyond human understanding and observation. Diseases have wasted billions of lives, never completely destroying us, always making us stronger.

Here we are, after all this time, becoming masters of our own fabric, able to see things that were hidden before and now committed to go beyond our home world. We’ve prepared constantly to decipher the mysteries that await us. The development of the Final Cure, the symbol of man’s impressive power, is about to be possible.

Ahead of our first voyage beyond Earth we expected the worst.

We started Project Gelluloid as we developed a substance, a powerful catalyst in which we experimented with different curing gels. The Green Gel, our latest development, is an intelligent gel able to thrive, adapt and become stronger with each microscopic fight.

You will witness the last test before the Green Gel becomes an essential part of every human being’s living body. A powerful ally that leads the fight from the inside, ready to take humanity to the next stage of its evolution. This intelligent gel must infiltrate the catalyst to quickly take control of neutral cells, before being assimilated by its enemies. It will face other gels from our earlier attempts, as well as reproductions of the most terrible diseases in human history.

The purpose of the experiment is to prove once and for all the gel’s adaptability and ability to fight its enemies with their own means, creating a strong artificial immune system against any aggression. This one of Science’s dreams that will go on to become reality.
